Who Makes It
Weruva is a family-owned pet food company run by David and Stacie Forman, named after their three rescued cats, Webster, Rudi and Vanessa. It is best known for wet cat and dog foods, and its dog lines include Dogs in the Kitchen, Weruva Classics, Awesome Functions and a freeze-dried range. The company says its recipes use human-grade ingredients such as boneless chicken breast and grass-fed beef. 1, 2, 3
Where It Is Made
Most Weruva products are made in Thailand at a third-party food processing facility, not a plant the company owns. The company says that facility is USFDA registered and holds BRC food safety certification. 4, 2
History
David and Stacie Forman founded Weruva in 2006 after looking for better food for their cats, and they added dog food after adopting a rescue dog named Baron. In July 2024 Weruva International, based in Natick, Massachusetts, acquired the direct-to-consumer cat food brand Cat Person. 1, 3
Worth Knowing
In 2017 Weruva recalled some Best Feline Friend canned cat foods that were made only for the Australian market and sold through Petbarn, after reports of sick cats. That recall did not cover US dog food. 5, 6
