Fruit processors dry cranberries to make an ingredient that ships and stores without refrigeration. Suppliers use different methods: some slice and infuse the tart berries with sugar, while others dry them without added ingredients.^7,8

   A small amount puts cranberries on the ingredient list. That is a clear label benefit, while the listed name alone says nothing about a urinary health effect.^2,9

   Whole dried fruit contains fiber. Its contribution to the finished food depends on both the amount used and whether the supplier added sugar.^5,7,8

   Ships as dry fruit

   Drying lets suppliers pack the berries in bulk cartons and ship them without refrigeration. A supplier specifies a 2-year shelf life under cool, dry storage.⁷

How much One 8-beagle study fed cranberry fruit powder at 0.2% of the food; ingredient lists do not state how much a recipe holds.^2,9
